Hello! My name is Kate Armstrong. I’m an experienced womenswear designer with an applied understanding of global design trends and product delivery.
I have a background in womenswear design, most recently as a designer for Marcs, one of Australia’s most respected contemporary ready to wear brands, and I am now based in the US pursuing design.
What I most admire about fashion is the individualism, sophistication and comfort it can bring to a person. I think a collection should reflect a creativity and sense of self that aligns with my own values of creating timeless, ageless fashion moments.
At Marcs, I was designer responsible for the management of leather and cut and sew as well as working on knitwear, reporting to the Head of Knitwear and Cut and Sew. In this role I established and maintained working relationships with key suppliers across a range of countries including Italy, China, Hong Kong, India and Bangladesh.
In addition to my design skills and production knowledge, I also offer a strategic mind and training in business development. I have recently completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance, with the aim of applying my skills in strategic analysis, problem solving and business development within the fashion industry. I also hold a Bachelor and a Master’s course in Fashion Design and Textiles.
